Grand Teton Astrophotography Adventure — 2 Nights (Aug 10–11, 2026)

$895.00

Two late-summer nights on the Snake River plain beneath the Teton ramparts, timed to the waning-crescent → new-moon window (new moon ~Aug 12–13) for dark skies and clean, stackable star fields. We’ll work Schwabacher Landing and Oxbow Bend for mirror-still reflections at golden/blue hour, scout Mormon Row/Antelope Flats for minimalist barns-vs-peaks silhouettes, and climb to Signal Mountain or Snake River Overlook for layered tele-landscapes. August brings stable evenings, cool nights, and the Galactic Core arcing through the south after midnight—perfect for foreground-first storytelling with alpine dawns to follow.

Difficulty & pace

  • Easy–Moderate. Multiple 0.5–2 mile round-trip walks on flat paths/boardwalks and lakeshores, plus short slopes to overlooks. Nights run 3–4 hours with breaks. Elevation ~6,200–7,300 ft; expect slower uphill pace.

Weather & safety

  • August is generally pleasant but can bring afternoon thunderstorms, quick temperature drops, and dawn frost at high viewpoints. Pack layers and a light waterproof shell.

  • Wildlife is active—moose, bison, elk, bears. We keep proper distances, carry bear spray, and avoid riparian tangles in the dark.

  • Mosquitoes can be present near water at dusk; bring repellent.

Vehicles & roads

  • Paved access to all primary sites; gravel pullouts common. Full-size tripod setups are fine from standard lots and short trails.

Logistics

  • Base area: Jackson / Moose corridor for shortest drives.

  • Meet times: ~5:30 pm (evening field) and ~12:30–1:00 am (astro block; adjusted to cloud cover and moonset).

  • Services & comms: Good amenities in Jackson; limited reception in the park—download offline maps.

  • Permits: We follow GTNP photography guidance; commercial/film permits are participant-handled if applicable.
